Titer

Information:
Definition:
The measurement of the amount or concentration of a substance in a solution. Usually refers to the amount of medication or antibodies found in a patient’s blood and serum.

Measurements of blood titers of certain substances, such as antibodies or medications, can be extremely helpful in determining necessary treatments. Antibody titers can give important information regarding a person’s current immunity to diseases (such as measles, small pox, hepatitis). Medication titers are useful in determining adequacy of treatments.
