Obstetrical Care
Planning a family can be an exciting, yet demanding undertaking. There are many decisions to be made and much information to absorb. One important step is education. By obtaining important information, you and your partner might easily manage the obstacles that lie ahead.
At Robert Wood Johnson OB/GYN Group Hamilton, we provide a comprehensive list of obstetrical services, in addition to educational components to keep you healthy before, during and after the pregnancy.
Preconceptional Counseling and Guidance
Our staff of dedicated physicians, midwives and nurses offer counseling to couples about inheritable disorders, ovulation calculation, diet and nutrition and overall preconceptional health. Our physicians and midwives conduct a physical examination, discuss prenatal vitamins, optional methods for conceiving, and prenatal screening tests.
Complete Prenatal Health Management
Once your wonderful news has arrived, there are many things to do. But before you start buying rattles and clothes, consider the health of your baby. Prenatal care is essential to a baby’s healthy start. Be sure to attend the recommended appointments as it provides important information for the doctor or midwife. Most prenatal visits include blood draws, weight gain record, urine samples, blood pressure check and fundus measurements. Some visits may include diagnostic tests such as an ultrasound, glucose monitoring, and nutrition counseling.
Nurse Midwifery
For many, having a nurse midwife creates peace of mind throughout the pregnancy and birthing process. Midwifery is a safe, effective and satisfying means of delivering your baby. Our Certified Nurse-Midwives (CNMs) are licensed health care practitioners educated in the two disciplines of nursing and midwifery. They provide primary care to women of childbearing age including: prenatal care, labor and delivery care, care after birth, gynecological exams, newborn care, assistance with family planning decisions, preconception care, menopausal management and counseling in health maintenance and disease prevention. Our team of CNM’s are highly trained and experienced, and deliver a sensitive, caring and personalized touch. They are supervised at all times by our excellent team of physicians.
Medical Team
Throughout your pregnancy you will see that our family has your best interests in mind. Whether you choose one of our Board Certified OB/GYNs or one of our Certified Nurse Midwives, you can be sure that your health and the health of your baby are our first priority.
Highly Trained Specialists
Unlike other OB/GYN practices, we are able to offer the most comprehensive team of Board Certified OB/GYNs, Certified Nurse Midwives and highly trained Medical Specialists. Your obstetrical care extends beyond the traditional approach.
The practice works closely with specialists trained Maternal/Fetal Medicine and Reproductive Endocrinology/Infertility.

Our team of trained lactation consultants will visit you in your maternity suite just after delivery and help you and your baby establish a good start in breastfeeding.
